Miror shoes - well kind of

I've had a fascination with mirror shoes since I first spotted these bbys in ...well some time ago:  http://www.solestruck.com/andreia-chaves-invisible-shoe-mirror/index.html , but evidently they are out of my league (sadly). So I decided to make my own.

I planned everything. I had a pair of old ballerina shoes that I intended to secure on wooden platform soles (that I would make out of super light wood) and glue broken mirrors with my newly acquired super glue E6000. Dealing with the lack of time and money (wood can be really expensive), I have found an alternative.

I used a pair of old shoes. Vagabond - I dare to say that these are the most comfortable pair of shoes I own. they fit like a glove and they really feel more like slippers than shoes. Well I have worn them so much that I have managed to make a hole in the sole and made the shoe almost fall apart. I decided to bring them back to life by giving them a new sole (this has yet to happen), fixing anything that could be fixed (gluing parts of the sole back on) and adding drama with my mirror equivalents - old CDs.

First I broke the CDs in a box, so parts of them didn't get thrown all over the room. Then I separated the shiny and the transparent layer and got to work. It was all about matching the right pieces together to achieve a mosaic look. As mentioned I have used my new favorite glue E6000 which really glues anything to anything ... for good.

the shoes really only came to life when exposed to direct sunlight and I think the CDs have had an even better effect than the mirrors would, because of their rainbow like reflections. I am really pleased with how this project turned out and will be doing more CD DIYs in the future.

Mononucleosis

Last Thursday, my mild autumn-start of school-stress cold took a turn for the worse. I was slightly feverish, my throat swelled and soon I couldn't speak. Joy. Over the next 7 days, going from doctor to doctor (yep that is how long it takes to get a basic diagnosis in Slovenia), I got diagnosed with infectious mononucleosis, or as most people call it, the kissing disease. So I am currently at home resting, recovering ...since it's a virus, it can't really be helped. I decided that I will try to update my blog a bit. I know I haven't posted anything in ages, but I believe that I sholdnt feel forced to do it. Now that I have found time and motivation to continue, I will. :)

I shoud proabbly get this for myself x3 http://www.giantmicrobes.com/us/products/kissingdisease.html

ENGLAND-4,5-TRAVELLING & WONDERS OF BERK

4th day consisted of waking up, packing, eating, trying to sleep on a bus, waiting around and eventually getting picked up by Tim, his dad and Cas (the car). Feels amazing to be back to my second home again :).

5th day, the weather did not look exactly promising, so after picking berries in the garden and being forced back in because of the rain ...
...we decided to go to Kingston, wander around cluelessly and watch How to train your dragon 2 in the evening. this movie is something else I swear. I love the story(ies), the amazing characters, each woth their own quirks and characteristics, the dragons (of course), landscapes hhfbvbn xsbvhjbvfcb. I just feel super hyped to draw...and PLEASE CAN SOMEONE MAKE IRL DRAGONS HAPPEN? I WANT ONE (or a few).
For now just have the Crazy Dragon Lady (drawn from memory, resemblance not guaranteed).

*Also I'll be updating my lookbook on here as well at the top of the screen widget ;)

ENGLAND-3-TORTILIAS AND HAIR

Pictures from yesterday which I forgot to post!

Me and IPI made tortilias, they were /considering our cooking exoerience/ quite good.
And I experimented with my short hair. I still have no clue what to do with it, but practice makes perfect :D.
*Bonus; Trying on Twigi's new costume ;)
I don't feel like writing lately + picture is worth a thousand words, so 4000sth should be more than enough ;D.

ENGLAND-2-THE CITY

Sheffield is a nice city. I will always miss the familiarity of Ljubljana and its smallness. I didn't have William with me today, so no pictures for yaa and I have been reading The Ultimate Guide To The Galaxy most of the day, so no mayor life breaktroughs, except proving the nonexistance of god because of a tiny yellow fish.

ENGLAND-1-SOCKS

Today was a good day. Even though I spent most of my night and morning commuting and just sitting around in random places, I had a nice time and the weather was nice.
1. GoOpti to venice (5pm)
2. waiting around and reading
3. Plane to Stansted (11pm)
4. waiting around and tricking the 1hour free wifi into giving me almost 3 hours ....somehow :D
5. taking an early coach to London (3.30am)
6. waiting around(5am)
7. the bus is late (7.30am)
8. arrriving in Sheffield and meeting up with Glaze and Twigi (11am)
I met some really nice people, like the nice asian guy who gave me change for crisps, the ql pakistanian driver who took me on an earlier bus, despite my ticket for the bus at 4.30am and explained everything about my next bus.

Well the day is ending with me going to sleep in my new ice-ream socks(thanx twigi).

I think I will like it here, once I clean up the appartment a bit; anyway England day 1, done :D

I cut my hair

I've had long hair since I was in kinder garden. I haven't changed it much; getting a fringe about 3 years ago was already a huge deal, then coloring the ends blue-greenish . Well I'm not saying I disliked my long hair, just the opposite, I loved it. But with all the important decisions happening in my life, emotional breakdowns and just turning a new page, I felt like having short hair. Took me about a week to finalize my decision, but here I am, hair above shoulders. I'm still not sure about the decision, but being able to wash it everyday without spending a ton of time will definitely be awesome, having no split ends is also a positive side-effect + I can still grow it back if I want. ;)
+ Shoutout to the best haidresser I ever had, Erika Macarol (EM Las)

Shape your future project

It is done. Two weeks of educational camp Shape your future are over. Two weeks of getting up early in the morning ( at least my sleeping schedule is quite normal now ^^), two weeks of learning new things and two weeks of hanging with some really great people.
This camp came along at just the right time. I was unsure about my future, my decisions and my chosen university. It really gave me back some of the confidence I need and reassurance that everything just may turn out okay.
I got a chance to listen to some great people and their stories of succcess, got some new options for jobs and travelling in my wait-I-could-do-this-at-some-point-collection and of course spend time with inspiring young people, full of enthusiasm and optimism.
+ Shout out to Kasparas who probably went to Šmarna gora more in this two weeks than I have in year, respect ;)

LOOKBOOK

Lately I've been interested in fashion. I dedicate a lot of my time to research and love to do all kinds of DIY projects. I wish to get even more involved into sewing and pattern-making. I've been looking for an app or a website where I could share my looks, get feedback and also get inspired by other fashion lovers.
A while ago I discovered Lookbook and so far it has been great. I will continue posting new looks, but to get you some insight, here some of my past creations :)

DAY 64*

Yesterday, I fell asleep aroud 8pm. I just felt really tired, I dint even know why ._.  ...and ended up waking up at 3:15 am with no intention of going back to sleep. I decided that I'm going to atempt catching the sunrise on top on Šmarna gora. The sunrise was scheduled for 5:15 in the morning, and I was out of the house by 3:55. I drove off to Tacen on  Soruru (my electric motorbike^^), because I wasn't sure about the condition my local path was in. I started walking at 4:10 and arrived at the top at 4:46. The view was just amazing. After 5 am other people were starting to show up. I ate my breakfast, took some pictures and waited.

The sunrise was accompanied by light drizzle and out of nowhere this amazing huge double rainbow appeared and stayed vivid and just breathtaking for about 30 min. The whole semi circle was visible (actually even more, probably about 200°), but it was all in all to big for my camera.

Anyway, when the sun hid behind the clouds and the rainbow disappeared, I decided to leave and get home before rain. I didn't make it. It started pouring while I was walking home but I wasn't quite drenched until I had to drive home on my motorbike.I couldn't have started my day any better^^

100HAPPYDAYS

I have stopped writing my blog and update my happy-days project in may. I just didn't have time to worry about this while dealing with school and making sure I get at least some sleep. Since then I have wanted to update the missed days, but I never actually had the willpower to do so and I don't think I ever will, I'm going to start posting again without bothering about the missed 2 months. I am disappointed...a bit, but I think that the only stupid thing I did was not post when I had time, because I wanted to first post things for the previous days....anyhow, it's summer now and I have a lot more time so look forward to more posts ^^

WALK ON IT

There is a channel on YouTube that I really love, and it's called The art assignment. Basically they get different interesting artists and interesting people in general, to set you a task, a challenge, an art assignment of sort. It is not always strictly traditional art - that's what I love about it, they are really creative and think outside of  the box. Anyway, I decided to take part in this challenge.

Always,I decided to shake thing up a bit and do something slightly different. I painted a square piece of plywood with acrylic colors and combined it with pieces of newspaper and old school assignments to make a collage. In the end sing pieces of wood, I stamped on the date of my project.
Instead of walking on the board itself, I decided to cut it in  appropriate pieces, sew then to the soles of my shoes and actually walk on them for a day. This way, I was able to see the change, that my day made on the surface of the painting and compare it to the intact plywood piece left at home.
I used an old pair of flats and some fishing line to secure the new soles.

Throughout the day, the fishing line in the front of the left shoe tore form me stepping on it so i had to re-sew the sole on multiple times. I also gout could in a small summer storm, hence the dilapidated wood. Strangely enough the shoes were not weird to walk in. The only noticeable thing was the sound they made when walking. This is the end result.

DAY 63

29.5.2014 In spite of spending most of my day studying either in school or in the Slovenian technical library NUK. Today was a good day. I got to experience sunshine and the feeling of summer while going to the city. It was magical. As per usual I bought myself a sandwich. Tomato, mozzarella and salad -best combination, the only thing would wish to avoid(but can't) would be the sauces that somehow always wind up inide the generic groceries store sandwitches. Why? D: they are not tasty nor healthy. Anyhow, things that I'm still ponering over while sitting on a bus station, waiting for my ride home are the amazing platform boots with this kind of puzzle texture, I found in a vintage store that I've always walked by, but never entered (till now); the impactful thunder shaking up the spacious reading room so hard, that I thougt the windows were about to carck and last but not least, witnessing the serene silence and calm in the reading room just before its closure at 22.00 and then wodering around our beautiful capital city, alone in the evening, no music just  muted traffic in the backgroud.

DAY 62

Vid made this miniature flag (actually he made like 3 or 4 versions of it) and placed it on my notebook. It looked cute and it came with a message, that went something along the lines of: ''Everything under this flag now belongs to me''. Anything to make school more interesting ^^

torek, 27. maj 2014

DAY 61

instead of studying, I spent my time sewing miniature dresses for our new class mascot Monika. The idea cam form the manneken qui piss; which we were just discussing in French. I must admit I really had fun making these two. The 1st one is supposed to resemble Erika's skirt (same fabric). And the shirt is made out of the polyester that was used to make my skirt.

ponedeljek, 26. maj 2014

DAY 60

Today me and my wife noted 4 years of marriage. We met in 8th grade, became best friends, got married - changed our relationship statuses on facebook. Not realy a big deal, but to this day, we still call each other wife, wifu, žena... Most of the people, as did my class, give you a really weird look at first, but after some time they get used to the term and don't mind it at all. Anyhow I really truly love my wife, she occupies a big part of my life, my thoughts and my heart. She has really been there for me through thick and thin. I've learned so much from her; relationships, life, self-confidence, art ..you name it... I really can not imagine the course of my life without her.

So darling, I find it of paramount importance to let you know that I miss your boobs!

DAY 57

Me and Erika happened to come to school, both wearing the skirts that I made. It was a really weird feeling, because while I was driving to school, I was actually thinking that maybe there is  this slight chance of her wearing the skirt as well ...and it actually happened. + Bonus Vida had her camera with so we took some photos; ( Photos by Vida Jocif).

četrtek, 22. maj 2014

DAY 56

In the morning I found this on my school desk. It said "Have a wonderful day!" and "Smile!". I later found out Filip has brought one for every person in the class. It really brought a smile to my grumpy morning face - without even reading it ^^.

+

Some of our buses are really old. The wooden seats are almost impossible to stay seated on (slippery!) + you can feel all the bumps on the road amplified by about a thousand. So today, one of these buses decided to go about closing doors its own way. When the diver closed the front two doors, the back opened and the other way around. So in the end I was left sitting across an open door, world passing by and a light breeze on my skin.

sreda, 21. maj 2014

DAY 55

Lucky colour - green. Walking the line with wearing my most wtf shirt. A rainbow pony. There is even an unexplained story behind this particular chemise. It was found in my little sisters closet, by my mom. Still complete with tags and price. Size 42. No one in our family wears size 42. Where it came is still unknown to us. Well, anyhow I decided to keep it because of it's abominable design. This horse gives me nightmares, I swear.

torek, 20. maj 2014

DAY 54

Acording to Oha-Asa horoscope my lucky colour today is red... so Im going full out wearing a self-made shirt, shorts and one of my bbys <3 An eagle ring is just the cherry on top. :D

ponedeljek, 19. maj 2014

DAY 53

I wear braces and today, I had my appointment scheduled, for what I was sure was 3 o'clock something I wasn't sure, but my mind has already made a plan to head there after schol, reorganised my studying plan for later ... when suddenly at around 11: 30 I glanced at my tiny booklet and the appointment was actually scheduled in an hour. So I packed my bag, got my permission for leaving the school signed and left 3 hours early. It was sunny and hot (after a week of rain and unbearable wind we had deserved it). Mistakes can be fun ^^

nedelja, 18. maj 2014

DAY 52

Trying out a new braiding technique, using my dearest polyester strips that I have already used to 'dress-up' my shoes here.

sobota, 17. maj 2014

DAY 51

Some nail art after a looong loong time. Attending my brothers church confirmation and talking to people I didn't know were interesting ^^ Some art and a demo version of me with short hair (just kidding not planning on cutting my hair any time soon xD). Also my new music obsession is Stromae :D

petek, 16. maj 2014

DAY 50

Found an old pair of red jeans that I borrowed from a classmate, I believe it was 4 or 5 years ago. I used them to cosplay Kanaya from homestuck, but decided to get rid of the improvised white buttons and wear them as a normal piece of clothing again. I'm juts surprised they still fit me x3 + of course i can't go out without my beloved crop-top and my favourite black blazer^^

četrtek, 15. maj 2014

DAY 49

Due to my lack of sleep in the past few days I deserved (needed a battery refill) - went to sleep at 6 (AND NOT AM! :D).

sreda, 14. maj 2014

DAY 48

Morning run during the first 2 hours of PE on Wednesdays + music. I'm really glad there are still meadows with actual flowers on them. <3

torek, 13. maj 2014

DAY 47

It was my first time staying at NUK after nightfall. The whole place felt magical. The reading room itself already has that atmosphere of a dreamy library, filled with students and ancient books. I can totally relive my wife's story whenever I'm studying there. With the sun gone, lights on and few students remaining, you really do feel like you are in a fairytale. Even if only for those 5 minutes of break you take with your favourite music, you feel free of all the worries and problems. You just exist. Comfortable chair, warmness, yellow light shining on your notebook and peace.

ponedeljek, 12. maj 2014

DAY 46

Finished product. Just seeing a person wear something that you made..and liking it ..it feels amazing. It really adds another dimension to my clothes-making. So far I have been sewing solely for myself (and well, for my closest frineds). But stressing over your work,  being nervous about the fit, the length, the folds' size..... and have it all pay off. It feels amazing.

nedelja, 11. maj 2014

DAY 45

Studied in a student reading room at Boršnikov trg. during my 20 min breaks, i went out to look around and sketch the city. This is the sketch I liked most. It's this arch opening to an inner yard with an interesting graffiti.

sobota, 10. maj 2014

DAY 44

This year i was sick during one of schools 'sport days', so I had to participate in some sort of a sport event. I chose the same thing a s last year, Pot ob žici. It's a memorial path around Ljubljana, 35 km in length. During the WW2, there was a tall metal fence circling the city, making it hard for people to pass either was and It was a time of general hardship and fear. In tribute of tragic events, and annual march has been organised since 1957. This year I went it alone, because none of my friends had time. Well I did take Tyra with me. To get to where the patch began, I had to ride a bus, and for a dog to ride a bus, it has to have a proper muzzle. Since Tyra never needed one, I had to buy it. Since the shop didn't have many sizes available, I bough a size too big and sewed it together to fit Tyra. She was quite scared at first but got used to it after 10 min. Because of her I also got the chance to start a conversation with an old couple on the bus on my way back. It felt nice to bring a smile to their faces. I really appreciated a short course on how to converse with older people, because a lot of times they feel excluded and alone in this fast modern society. Being able to make their day better really put the cherry on top of an already amazing day.

petek, 9. maj 2014

DAY 43

Got to try Vietnamese chicken sticks on Ljubljana open-kitchen event. Met some old friends and made some new ones. Fluffy ones. And had fun with my classmates at The Capitols. Awesome photos by my friend.

četrtek, 8. maj 2014

DAY 42

Started working on a skirt for my classmate. She really liked the skirt I made for myself ...and already had fabric bought. I think this is going to turn out the way I want it too. no problems so far.

torek, 6. maj 2014

DAY 40

I like it.
Unknown radio station, slight droning of a bus, I can't even hear the music.
About to miss the bus, the bus driver picked me up in front of my house.
There are nice people on this bus - empty seats.
Cold morning breeze ...  and sun. On the left.

Person by the road.

It's 6.43 am.

ponedeljek, 5. maj 2014

DAY 39

Studied at NUK (finally sorted out my membership card). Discovered a wonderful gallery  - mostly contemporary Slovenian artists, tons of amazing graphics. And after watching this video, the afro guy happened. Today I don't really feel like writing because I'm really tired ... so goodnight :) ...-also wore my skirt to school for the first time^^.

nedelja, 4. maj 2014

DAY 38

Spent the whole day home alone, listening to music on max volume, getting rid of half of my clothes (I didn't wear them anyway). Had a pizza with my wifu and watched a movie. And it was sunny. :D

sobota, 3. maj 2014

DAY 37

Today I've decided to sew a dress. I've been wanting to try this sheer-panel effect since I first saw it on Project runway all stars. I was home alone with plenty of space and time...so this happened. I've  wanted to create something high-wasted, and not too short. I've used an old leftover zipper to give it a bit of structure and weight, added a sheer panel in between, made a few folds and added a proper waistline. In the end I sewed a hidden zipper in the back ...aaand pockets. I was terified of making them since this was the first time I've made pockets by myself but I think they turned out quite well. Since I didn't have any crop-tops, I had to alter an old shirt to go with it. A bow that I'm wearing is also made by me, but I've promised to give it to a friend, to complete her lolita coord.
